ACADEMY THEATRE BRINGS “SHOOTING STAR” TO THE STAGE

Hapeville, Ga. – The Academy Theatre and Lynna Schmidt Productions are co-producing ‘Shooting Star’ by Steven Dietz!  The show stars Atlanta theater favorites Lynna Schmidt and Rob Raissle.

IMG_5800“We had such success with Love Letters last season, I think the fans will enjoy this show as well,” says Lynna Schmidt, whose performance in Academy’s Naughty & Nice: A Sassy Holiday Cabaret is still receiving rave reviews.

Snowed in overnight at an airport, ex-college sweethearts Elena (Lynna Schmidt) and Reed (Rob Raissle) have an unexpected reunion.  It’s been more than twenty years since their last meeting.  This chance encounter is filled with romance and regret.

“It is always such a delight to work with Lynna.” says Rob Raissle, who is well known for his performances in Academy’s Last of the Red Hot Lovers and Plaza Suite.  Both productions had sold out performances.

“Attending the Academy Theater’s productions of Love Letters and Plaza Suite alternately delighted and charmed us due to the scintillating dynamics between actors Lynna Schmidt and Rob Raissle.”, say this production’s sponsors, Marc and Bonnie Hayes. “Whether Broadway, Leicester Square, or Hollywood, we haven’t witnessed two actors who complement their talents as well as Lynna and Rob.”

The comedy begins with the wry Elena and the amiable Reed sarcastically bantering.  As their conversation continues past the witty banter, they grapple with the consequences of roads not taken, and contemplate the possibilities of roads that still might be open to them.

This show is rated PG-13 because of adult content. Audience discretion is advised.
