Academy Theatre explodes with Spontaneous Combustion!
Spontaneous Combustion, an Academy Theatre featured event, will be a chance for dancers, singers, actors, and performers of all kinds to showcase their talent on Academy Theatre’s small stage! Organized by Academy’s dance curator Candace Woodall, this dance and music jam session will include a mix of improvisation and choreography.

Actors to play the following:
Recently divorced and living in an old house in Iowa, Sharon finds a sensible roommate like herself—a woman in her fifties—to make ends meet. But she quickly learns that Robyn is a fugitive of sorts, who couldn’t be further from the ladies in her book club. As both women become close, each recognizes in the other an overwhelming desire to transform her own life. But the only question is: what will be the price of that transformation. A dark comedy about what it takes to re-route your life – and what happens when the wheels come off.

Auditions for ‘Coda‘, a new play by Sharon Mathis, will be held October 29 and 30 at the Academy Theatre’s new space from 6:30pm to 9:30pm.

Bring two head shots and resumes, prepare a 1 minute monologue, be prepared to cold read, and improvise.
The show is directed by Robert Drake and Fracena Byrd.
‘Coda’ is a modern retelling of Romeo and Juliet among the retirement set.

This show pays a stipend and will run from February 7th to 16th with the possibility of extension.
