Love Letters at Jess Lucas Park

Melissa Gardner and Andrew Makepeace Ladd III are a mismatched couple. Using the letter writing form sometimes found in novels, over 50 years, they discuss their hopes and ambitions, dreams and disappointments, victories and defeats.

Join us at Jess Lucas Park in Hapeville one weekend only for this wonderful story! Bring your own table and chairs, and masks are available. Beverages and snacks will be available for purchase.

Academy Theatre explodes with Spontaneous Combustion!

Spontaneous Combustion, an Academy Theatre featured event, will be a chance for dancers, singers, actors, and performers of all kinds to showcase their talent on Academy Theatre’s small stage! Organized by Academy’s dance curator Candace Woodall, this dance and music jam session will include a mix of improvisation and choreography.

Ana just graduated from high school. She dreams of going to college and becoming a writer, but for now she works in her sister’s garment factory in East L.A. The hours are long and the pay is low. Still, Ana grows to appreciate the strength, passion, and dedication of the women she works beside. While these women struggle issues from body image to deportation, they still find joy, humor, and beauty.
